CD Águila and CD Olimpia Share Spoils in 1–1 Stalemate

San Salvador, El Salvador, August 20, 2025 - In a key Group D match of the 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup at Estadio Cuscatlán, CD Águila and CD Olimpia ended in a 1–1 draw. This result keeps both teams on track in the tournament.

Darwin Cerén ended the stalemate in the 30th minute. He scored on a quick counterattack with a low shot past Edrick Menjívar. This gave the hosts a well-deserved lead. Olimpia struck back just nine minutes later. In the 39th minute, Jerry Bengtson soared to head in the equalizer from a corner. His goal quieted the crowd of more than 40,000 fans.

Both teams had chances to score. Águila’s Nelson Rodríguez shot just over the bar late in the game. Then, Olimpia’s Bryan Amaya hit the woodwork in stoppage time. Still, neither team could find a winner. The draw puts CD Águila third in Group D with three points. CD Olimpia is second with six points. They are one point behind leaders Xelajú MC before the final group matches.
