Hell Let Loose: Vietnam – Developer Interview Unveils New Details During Gamescom Broadcast

On August 21, 2025, Expression Games and Team17 shared a detailed developer interview. This was for their new standalone title, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, during the FGS Live From gamescom broadcast. The session took place right after the game was revealed at the Future Games Show during gamescom the day before.
The live interview, streamed with FGS Live From gamescom, included the Expression Games team. They talked about key gameplay innovations and tactical systems designed for the Vietnam War setting. Highlights included:
- Helicopter Operations: Players can now pilot fully operational helicopters. This is a first for the franchise! Use them for troop transport, reconnaissance, and close air support.
- Tunnel Warfare: North Vietnamese Army forces will use player-built tunnel networks for stealthy moves and surprise attacks. This expands the current garrison system.
- River Combat: U.S. Patrol Boat River (PBR) vessels and Vietnamese stealth craft will battle for control of key waterways on six large launch maps.
- Enhanced Roles & Tools: We’ve added new mortar squads and expanded commander abilities. These changes deepen tactical options. Plus, a built-in tutorial system makes it easier for newcomers to get started.
The development team announced that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will launch in 2026. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game uses Unreal Engine 5, featuring a new codebase and a fresh audio-visual upgrade. They also stressed that a second studio will keep supporting the original World War II game, Hell Let Loose. This way, both titles will get regular updates and community backing.
Stay tuned to the official Hell Let Loose channels. You’ll find updates, release dates, and new gameplay previews as the game develops.
