Remains of Missing Teen Found; Boyfriend to Be Arraigned on Murder Charge

REHOBOTH, Mass. (August 20, 2025) - On Tuesday afternoon, human remains believed to be 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro were found on her boyfriend Gregory Groom’s property. This was confirmed by Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III. Monteiro was reported missing on August 7. She was about 11 weeks pregnant. The last sighting was at her home on Groom’s County Street.
Quinn reports that on Tuesday, Massachusetts State Police got a search warrant for 107 County Street. During the search, they found remains that seemed to match Kylee Monteiro. Authorities are awaiting confirmation from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Groom was charged on Tuesday with several offenses. These include aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery, and witness intimidation. These charges are related to an alleged incident at his home on August 6. Based on the evidence gathered, prosecutors have added a murder charge. Groom is being held without bail. He’s scheduled to appear in Taunton District Court this morning for charges of murder and assault.
Family members started a GoFundMe for funeral costs. A candlelight vigil will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 7:00 p.m. on Winthrop Street in Rehoboth. Friends and relatives ask the community to show support for the Monteiro family in the days to come.
