Sekiro Anime “No Defeat” Reveal Dominates Coverage on August 20, 2025

August 20, 2025 – The much-anticipated anime adaptation of FromSoftware’s hit game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is here. Titled Sekiro: No Defeat, it made a splash at Gamescom 2025, exciting both gaming and anime fans.

At Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, Crunchyroll revealed a teaser for Sekiro: No Defeat. Fans saw beautiful hand-drawn scenes that capture memorable moments from the original game. One highlight is the opening duel between Sekiro, or Wolf, and Genichiro Ashina. The trailer features eye-catching art and thrilling combat moves. This highlights the team’s aim to portray the game’s precise swordplay in an anime style.

The series is produced by Kadokawa Corporation, Crunchyroll, Qzil.la, and ARCH. It will exclusively stream on Crunchyroll in 2026. Global distribution will not include Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus. No premiere date is set yet. However, Asa Suehira, the platform’s chief content officer, highlighted the adaptation’s faithfulness. He said, “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a game known for its precision and intensity. Director Kenichi Kutsuna, known for his work on One Punch Man and Bleach, leads the creative team. Crunchyroll’s announcement is a big step for FromSoftware adaptations. It comes after A24 revealed an upcoming film for Elden Ring. Sekiro: No Defeat is set in the Sengoku era. It focuses on thrilling combat and combines it with traditional hand-drawn anime storytelling. The game will debut next year.
