49ers Acquire WR Skyy Moore from Chiefs in Draft–Pick Swap

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 21, 2025 – The 49ers strengthened their injured receiving group by trading for wide receiver Skyy Moore from the Chiefs. In return, they swapped late-round draft picks for 2027.
NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero report that the Chiefs traded Moore and a 2027 seventh-round pick to San Francisco. In return, they got a 2027 sixth-round pick. The move happened just a day after news broke that the two clubs had agreed on the deal.
Moore, a second-round pick from Western Michigan in 2022, had a tough time finding a steady spot in Kansas City’s offense over three seasons. He made 43 catches for 494 yards and one touchdown. However, he shined in Friday’s preseason finale, returning a punt 88 yards for a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs have tough decisions to make at wide receiver. Moore is in the mix for one of the last spots on Kansas City’s roster.
The 49ers enter the deal with a receiving room ravaged by injuries. Brandon Aiyuk is healing from knee surgery. Jauan Jennings has a calf issue. Rookie Jordan Watkins is dealing with an ankle sprain. Veteran DeMarcus Robinson is suspended for three games due to a substance-abuse policy violation. Moore’s addition adds depth and boosts special teams as San Francisco prepares for its season opener.
