The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox Debuts on Streaming Platforms

Perugia, Italy - The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, a true-crime miniseries, is out now. It tells the story of Amanda Knox’s wrongful conviction in the 2007 Meredith Kercher case. The show premiered today, August 20, 2025, on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ worldwide. The first two of eight episodes came out at once. New episodes will be released weekly until October 1, 2025.
K.J. Steinberg created the drama, with Amanda Knox and Monica Lewinsky as co-producers. Grace Van Patten takes on the role of Knox, and Sharon Horgan plays her mother, Edda Mellas. The premiere shows Knox arriving in Perugia. It also covers the discovery of Kercher’s body and the tense early moments of her interrogation by Italian authorities.
Early reactions praise the series’ immersive, first-person style. It uses voice-over and stylish visuals to show Knox’s emotional struggle. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes give it a 70% positive rating from ten reviews. Metacritic scores it 62 out of 100 based on six reviews.
