Jack White Turns White House Shade into a “Badge of Honour”

Washington, D.C., August 21, 2025 - Grammy-winning rocker Jack White hit back at the Trump administration on Wednesday. He described a White House insult as a “badge of honour” after he took aim at the Oval Office’s flashy gold-leaf decor.
On August 20, White posted on Instagram. He ridiculed the White House’s response to his take on the presidential office’s makeover. He referred to it as a “vulgar, gold-leafed, and gaudy” dressing room for a professional wrestler. When White House Communications Director Steven Cheung called him a “washed-up, has-been loser,” the musician saw it as a win. He felt the insult proved his words hit home.
White’s post compared the administration’s small criticism to the serious issues he has condemned before, like ICE tactics and alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein. ““No, it wasn’t my criticism of Trump’s ICE tactics or his indifference to suffering children that led to their response,” White wrote. ““It was my comment on the decor of the Oval Office. How petty and thin-skinned can this administration get?”
He kept criticizing President Donald Trump as an “orange grifter.” He said Trump is “a danger not just to America but the entire world.” He accused the administration of “dismantling democracy and endangering the planet every day.” White ended his speech with a quote from Theodore Roosevelt. It criticized blind loyalty to leaders. This highlighted his view that civic duty requires speaking out against them.
The exchange is another twist in White’s feud with the president. This conflict involves lawsuits over the use of “Seven Nation Army” at campaign rallies. White has also harshly criticized Trump’s policies and statements. White turned the administration’s insult into a point of pride. He is once again at the forefront of artists who speak out on political issues through their work.
