Jaxson Dart Cleared After Concussion Check, Sparks Fan Uproar in Giants Preseason Finale

East Rutherford, NJ, August 22, 2025 - Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart shined in the Giants’ preseason finale against the Patriots. He led a 65-yard opening drive, ending with a touchdown pass. However, he left the game in the first quarter after a hard hit, prompting a concussion evaluation.

Dart, in his first preseason start, completed 6 out of 12 passes for 81 yards. He threw a 7-yard touchdown to tight end Greg Dulcich a little over two minutes into the game. His 50-yard throw to Gunner Olszewski set the stage for the Giants’ early control. Soon after, Dart scrambled on a fourth-and-6. He got the first down but fumbled and fell awkwardly. Officials then took him to the medical tent for evaluation.

Prime Video sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung said Dart passed all concussion checks. He was cleared to return to team facilities but didn’t go back into the game. Instead, veteran Jameis Winston took the snaps. Adam Schefter from ESPN confirmed that Dart has “cleared concussion protocol.” He is “expected to be fine” for the regular season opener.

Even with his short game, Dart’s performance sparked a social media buzz among Giants fans. On X (formerly Twitter), fans filled the platform with requests. They wanted Dart to be the Week 1 starter and compared him to Russell Wilson. One fan shouted, “JAXSON DART IS WINNING US A SUPER BOWL!” Another said, “Dart is better than Russell Wilson.” This shows more fans believe the rookie should lead Big Blue’s offense in 2025.

Head coach Brian Daboll says veteran Russell Wilson will start the regular season. Thursday’s show, on the field and online, has fueled the debate. Should the Giants hasten Dart’s shift to a starting NFL role?

The Giants will host Washington in Week 1 on September 7. Dart’s health and readiness will be a key focus during preseason evaluations and the final weeks of training camp.
