CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 21, 2025 – Malik Taylor, 28, known as “The Unpopular Party,” was killed in a car accident in Charlotte. His family and fraternity announced the news on Thursday. Malik’s sharp pop culture commentary had attracted hundreds of thousands of followers.

Taylor just turned 28 a few weeks ago. He moved from Memphis to Charlotte earlier this year. This change helps him grow his content-creation career on TikTok and YouTube. His YouTube channel, The Unpopular Party, gained almost 80,000 subscribers. On Instagram, he had over 15,000 followers. Two days before he died, Taylor shared his last video. He reacted to some breaking entertainment news.

Alpha Kappa Psi – Zeta Phi, Taylor’s fraternity, was the first to announce his death. They posted on Facebook that their “beloved Brother … has gone to ‘Audit Eternal.’” The statement admired Taylor’s warmth, humor, and devotion to spreading joy. It declared, “Your spirit will always inspire us.”

Details surrounding the accident remain limited. Kendall Holloway, Taylor’s cousin, shared on Facebook that Taylor died in a car crash in Charlotte. She asked friends and family to take a moment of silence for him.

Prior to his rise as an online influencer, Taylor worked as a schoolteacher in Memphis. He jumped into full-time content creation in 2023. Before that, he built a TikTok following of about 10,000.
