Pokémon Legends: Z-A Unveils Mega Victreebel in Ominous “Found Footage” Trailer

Bellevue, Wash., Aug. 21, 2025 – The Pokémon Company has unveiled Mega Victreebel. This new Mega-Evolved form of the classic Flycatcher Pokémon stars in a creepy “found footage” trailer. It’s for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, set to launch on October 16 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

In the released video, two explorers enter an abandoned building. Inside, they find a toxic purple substance oozing from broken walls. As the tension rises, Mega Victreebel appears. Its huge, acid-filled body drips a sweet but deadly scent that can melt steel. Even with its scary look, the trailer ends on a fun note. The Trainer calms the excited plant, showing its playful side under the fierce exterior.

According to today’s press release, Mega Victreebel stands 14′9″ (4.5 m) tall and weighs 276.7 lbs. ((125.5 kg). Its Mega Evolution boosts acid volume. This forces the Pokémon to wrap its vines tightly around its throat to hold in the corrosive fluid. Mega Victreebel is the Flycatcher Pokémon. It keeps its Grass/Poison type. Now, it’s bigger and stronger, making it more powerful in battles and wild encounters.

The reveal came after an accidental leak by The Pokémon Company’s Chinese social channels. This leak briefly spoiled the Mega Victreebel announcement on August 20, before the official trailer was released. Fans had already guessed this design from earlier leaks. Today, we finally get full confirmation and a visual display of it.

Mega Victreebel now joins Dragonite and other first-generation stars with Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This fall, Trainers can explore a spooky story and an open world. They’ll meet these new forms during their adventure.
