Las Vegas Aces Dominate Phoenix Mercury 78–59 in Decisive Home Victory

LAS VEGAS (Aug. 22, 2025) - The Las Vegas Aces won their ninth straight game, beating the Phoenix Mercury 78–59 at Michelob Ultra Arena on Friday night. Right from the start, the Aces played tough defense and balanced offense. They didn’t let the Mercury find their rhythm at all.
First Quarter: Las Vegas started strong with an 8–1 run in the first five minutes. Jackie Young finished it off with a fast break layup, just like Draymond Green. After 10 minutes, the Aces led 23–17. Phoenix found it tough to score from long range, hitting just 2 out of 10 three-point shots.
Second Quarter: The Aces continued to pull away in the second, outscoring Phoenix 20–12. A’ja Wilson made her mark with eight points in the second quarter. She also grabbed key rebounds, helping Las Vegas take a 43–29 lead at halftime.
Third Quarter: Phoenix sparked to life in the third, edging the period 17–16. Kahleah Copper helped with two key midrange jumpers. However, Las Vegas maintained control, leading 59–45 heading into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter: The Aces sealed the victory with a 19–13 closing run. Chelsea Gray’s defense led to two steals. Jackie Young played well from the wing, ending the game with nine points and three assists.
