Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $700 Million After No Winner in Wednesday’s Drawing

August 21, 2025 – No ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. So, the jackpot has climbed to an estimated $700 million. This is the biggest lottery prize of 2025 so far. The winning numbers drawn on August 20 were 31 – 59 – 62 – 65 – 68, with a red Powerball of 5./strong>.

The jackpot is enormous, but the odds of winning the top prize are still low. It’s about 1 in 292.2 million./strong>. Players can pick between two options: the advertised annuity, which pays out over 30 years, or a one-time cash lump sum. The cash option for the jackpot is about $316.3 million. After a 24% federal tax, you’d get roughly $240.4 million. If you earn a high income, more taxes could drop your take-home to about $199.3 million.

Ticket sales have surged due to the rising jackpot. They are up nearly 40% compared to last year at the same level, says the Multi-State Lottery Association. The next Powerball drawing is on Saturday, August 23, at 10:59 p.m. ET. You can watch it live at Powerball.com.
