Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $700 Million After No Wednesday Winner

August 21, 2025 - The Powerball jackpot soared to an estimated $700 million after Wednesday night’s drawing. This is the biggest lottery prize of 2025. No ticket matched the numbers 31, 59, 62, 65, 68, and Powerball 5. This marks 36 drawings in a row without a grand-prize winner since May 31.

Despite the lack of a jackpot winner, consolation prizes added excitement for players. A Tennessee ticket holder who chose the Power Play option matched five numbers and won $2 million. Two tickets in Michigan and Oklahoma also matched five numbers, each winning $1 million.

Additional payouts included:

  • 30 tickets won $50,000 by matching four numbers and the Powerball. Eight of these doubled to $100,000 with Power Play.
  • Hundreds of players across the country winning prizes ranging from $4 to $100.

Ticket sales have soared. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), there’s a 40 percent increase from this time last year. The odds of hitting the jackpot remain at about 1 in 292 million.

Players have until 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday to purchase tickets for the next drawing. You can take the jackpot as 30 annual payments or a lump sum of around $316.3 million before taxes.

The 2025 prize is now second to the historic $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot from April 2024. It also trails the record-setting $2.04 billion Mega Millions jackpot won in November 2022.
