South Park Season 27, Episode 3 “Sickofancy” Debuts Amid Militarized D.C. Satire

Tonight, Comedy Central showed the third episode of South Park’s 27th season, “Sickofancy.” It offered sharp political and cultural satire and brought back the fan-favorite, Towelie.
In an opening scene in a militarized Washington, D.C., Towelie arrives by bus. He sees tanks and National Guard troops patrolling the capital. This is a clear parody of President Trump’s recent deployment of federal forces to the city. Towelie’s famous line, “This appears to be the ideal location for a towel,” points to the episode’s silly take on real-life events.
The episode pivots midway to lampoon tech-bro culture. Randy Marsh is a ketamine-snorting Silicon Valley stereotype. He turns to ChatGPT for marriage advice and plans to revamp Tegridy Farms. This unfolds during an ICE raid on migrant workers. His story mixes political views on immigration with a critique of the AI craze.
““Sickofancy” has elicited the most polarized reactions of the season so far. Some viewers loved its sharp humor and relevance. However, others thought it didn’t reach the level of Episodes 1 and 2. Comments varied. Some praised its bold satire. Others felt let down. They thought the story focused too much on returning characters instead of the main four.
South Park is pausing new episodes until September 3. It will then stick to its bi-weekly schedule for the rest of the season. Paramount+ subscribers can stream “Sickofancy” starting August 21 at 6 a.m. ET.
