Villanova University Issues Active Shooter Alert

Villanova, PA – August 21, 2025
At 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Villanova University sent out a “NOVA Alert.” This was in response to reports of an active shooter on campus. The notification warned students, faculty, and staff to act quickly. It advised those in affected areas to find shelter, lock and barricade doors, and avoid Scarpa Hall at the Law School level while authorities secured the scene.
Local police and university safety teams rushed to the main campus right after the alert. They set up a perimeter and searched buildings for the suspect. The Radnor Township Police Department reports that no shots have been confirmed fired. Also, there are no reported injuries at this time. Officers are on site to check the initial report. They’re making sure all students and staff are safe and accounted for.
Classes and events scheduled for Thursday evening were swiftly canceled. University leaders ask everyone on campus to keep checking official channels for updates. They also urge you to stay alert until the all-clear is given.
