Eagles Edge Jets 10-9 in Preseason Finale at MetLife Stadium

August 23, 2025 - EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The Philadelphia Eagles wrapped up their 2025 preseason with a tough 10–9 win against the New York Jets. This game took place Friday night at MetLife Stadium.
Quarterback Joe Callahan led the key drive, covering 72 yards in the last two minutes. Callahan finished the drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Darius Cooper. Cooper battled tight coverage to catch the go-ahead score with 1:12 left. Kicker Jake Elliott’s extra point proved to be the margin of victory.
Both teams sat many starters, so neither offense clicked early. Philadelphia scored its only first-half points with Elliott’s 42-yard field goal late in the second quarter. This gave the Eagles a 3–0 lead. New York opened the third quarter with a 28-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein. This tied the game at 3–3.
Defenses dominated the second half. The Eagles almost ended the tie in the fourth quarter. Callahan threw a 37-yard pass to tight end Jack Stoll, but it was ruled just short of the end zone. On New York’s next drive, Jets QB Adrian Martinez got sacked by linebacker Nakobe Dean on third-and-six. This forced a punt and set up Callahan’s winning sequence.
New York surged late, moving to the Philadelphia 15 with under 30 seconds to play. Linebacker T.J. Edwards caused a fumble on Braelon Allen’s third-down run. Cornerback Darius Slay picked it up, sealing the win.
With the win, the Eagles end the preseason at 2–1. Now, they focus on the regular season opener at home against the Atlanta Falcons on September 7. The Jets finish the preseason at 1–2. They will start the season on September 8 against the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
