Cowboys Triumph in Preseason Finale Over Falcons, 24–13

ARLINGTON, TX, August 23, 2025 - The Dallas Cowboys finished their 2025 preseason strong on Friday night. They beat the Atlanta Falcons 24–13 at AT&T Stadium. The home crowd was lively and excited. Dallas ended its losing streak after two exhibition losses. They did this with strong offensive play and a key special-teams effort.

Early Dallas Surge Dallas struck first and often in the opening quarter, jumping to a 14–0 advantage. On the Cowboys’ second drive, QB Joe Milton III hit rookie wideout Jalen Brooks with a 29-yard touchdown pass. This completed a steady 65-yard drive in just six plays. Later in the quarter, Milton led another scoring drive. This time, he used the speed of second-year back Jaydon Blue. Blue broke free for an 11-yard touchdown run. Dallas’ opening-quarter domination set the tone for the night.

**Falcons Fight Back** Atlanta struck back in the second quarter with a 28-yard field goal by Younghoe Koo. This cut the score to 14–3. The Falcons put together a balanced drive. It ended with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Easton Stick to tight end Feleipe Franks. Younghoe Koo’s extra point brought Atlanta within four at 17–13, but Dallas would not relinquish the lead.

**Special-Teams Heroics** Right before halftime, Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey kicked a franchise-record 64-yard field goal. This gave the team a two-score lead at 20–13. Aubrey’s strong leg was key, but Atlanta’s special teams failed to fight back.

**Fourth-Quarter Seal** Neither team scored in the third quarter. But Dallas sealed the game early in the fourth. On Dallas’ first drive of the period, backup RB Deuce Vaughn scored a four-yard touchdown. This capped a 10-play drive and pushed the lead to 24–13. Atlanta managed only a late field goal, but the deficit proved insurmountable.

**Statistical Standouts** Milton went 8-of-15 for 94 yards. Stick completed 15 of 19 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown. Deuce Vaughn led the Cowboys’ rushing with 42 yards on 10 carries. Nathan Carter topped Atlanta’s ground game with 10 carries for 16 yards. Micah Parsons made several pressures on defense. Meanwhile, Donovan Wilson, the safety, recorded seven tackles and broke up a pass.

Outlook Dallas ends the preseason with a record of 1–2. Now, they will look ahead to Week 1 of the regular season. They’ll welcome back key starters, like Dak Prescott. Atlanta is now 0–3 in exhibition games. Questions linger about the quarterback and the offensive line. Both teams must make key roster choices this week. They need to finalize their 53-man squads.
