Giants Dominate Patriots 42-10 in Preseason Finale

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The New York Giants finished the preseason with a big win on Thursday night. They triumphed over the New England Patriots, 42-10, at MetLife Stadium.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart took the field for New York and flashed his talent. He completed 6 of 12 passes, gaining 81 yards. This included a 50-yard bomb to Gunner Olszewski. Dart also tossed a seven-yard touchdown to tight end Greg Dulcich. This capped a 65-yard opening drive just 2:01 into the game. Dart completed 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards. He threw three touchdowns and had no interceptions. He also rushed six times for 52 yards and scored a touchdown.

Cam Skattebo made his preseason debut as a running back for the Giants. He carried the ball three times for 12 yards. This came after he overcame a hamstring issue during training camp. When Dart left the game late in the first quarter for a concussion check after a fumble, Jameis Winston stepped in. On his first snap, he threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Jalin Hyatt, making the score 14-0 for New York.

In relief of Winston, fourth-string QB Tommy DeVito shone. He threw three touchdown passes. One went to Thomas Fidone II for three yards. He also added two scoring throws to running back Jonathan Ward. Undrafted rookie safety TJ Moore ended the rout with a 44-yard interception return late in the third quarter. However, he left the game on a cart due to a suspected knee injury. His teammates knelt in solidarity.

The Patriots sat most of their starters. They got their only touchdown from a 10-yard pass by Ben Wooldridge to Jeremiah Webb in the second quarter. Andy Borregales kicked a 30-yard field goal. Wooldridge finished 10 of 20 for 82 yards in relief.

New York ends the preseason with a 3-0 record for the first time since 2019. They outscored their rivals 107-47. New England falls to 2-1 in exhibition play. The Giants open the regular season at Washington on Sept. 7, while the Patriots visit Las Vegas on the same day.
