Rangers Rally Late to Defeat Guardians 4–3 in Arlington

ARLINGTON, TX (Aug. 23, 2025) - The Texas Rangers scored two runs in the ninth inning. This rally helped them beat the Cleveland Guardians, 4–3, at Globe Life Field on Saturday night.

Nathan Eovaldi had a great game for the Rangers. He threw seven innings, striking out nine batters. He allowed just three runs on seven hits, which helped him secure the win. Cleveland starter Slade Cecconi took the loss. He gave up four runs, two earned, in six innings. He struck out three batters.

Texas took the lead for good with a pair of homers. Center fielder Willie Langford hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. It was his 19th of the season. First baseman Rowdy Tellez followed with a two-run blast in the ninth. This put the Rangers ahead 4–2.

The Guardians had tied the game at 2–2 in the second inning on a two-run single by José Ramírez, who finished with a pair of RBIs. Cleveland added a run in the ninth on Brandon Rocchio’s RBI single but could not complete the comeback.

With the victory, Texas moves to 64–66 on the year, while Cleveland falls to 64–63. The teams continue their three-game series on Sunday afternoon, with Game 3 scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET.
