FLASH NEWS: Shooting and Lockdown at Henry Ford Hospital

DETROIT, MI - On the morning of August 22, 2025, Henry Ford Hospital on West Grand Boulevard went into lockdown. This followed a deadly domestic shooting in the basement.
At about 9:55 a.m., Detroit Police got reports of gunfire in the hospital basement. They quickly sealed off all entrances and exits. A large group of law enforcement officers, including ATF agents, arrived at the scene. Patients and staff sheltered in place until the situation was under control.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison stated that Mario Green, 65, from Bloomfield Hills, argued with his ex-wife, a 40-year-old hospital employee, in the basement corridor. He pulled out a handgun and fired several times, fatally wounding her. Then, he fled in a white 2011 Dodge Charger with the license plate DXC7067.
Hospital officials confirmed the lockdown was lifted at around 10:45 a.m. after a thorough sweep of the building yielded no additional victims or suspects. The shooter was seen exiting through the front entrance. He is still at large and is armed and dangerous.
Detroit police urgently ask for help. If you know where Mario Green is, please contact them right away. Henry Ford Hospital is back to normal operations. Some outpatient services had delays as precautionary measures were lifted.
This is a rare case of gun violence at a major Detroit hospital. It has led to an internal review of security protocols. Further updates will follow as the investigation continues.
