Team Cherry Outlines Post-Launch Plans for Hollow Knight: Silksong

August 22, 2025 – AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Team Cherry said that after Hollow Knight: Silksong launches on September 4, they will keep developing more content for “months and years to come.”

In a Bloomberg interview shared by IGN SEA, co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen said that Silksong started as downloadable content. Its growth into a full sequel has fired up the team’s ambition to expand the experience after launch. ““Launching it is obviously quite exciting,” Pellen said. ““What comes after for us is equally as exciting.” Gibson added, “The most interesting thing now is what we can add to it next. We’ve got a plan. Admittedly, some of the plans for that stuff are kind of ambitious as well, but hopefully we can achieve some of it.”

Silksong’s release date was announced on August 21. This marks the end of a six-year wait since its reveal in 2019. It arrives on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on September 4, 2025. This follows its trailer reveal at Gamescom and features at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase this past summer.

Team Cherry is committed to ongoing support for the game. So, Hornet’s journey through the haunted kingdom of Pharloom will keep evolving, even after players conquer its tough peak.
