Parents of Missing Infant Emmanuel Haro Arrested on Murder Charges

CABAZON, Calif., August 22, 2025 - This morning, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jake Haro and his wife, Rebecca Haro. They are suspected of murdering their 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro, who has been missing. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Specialized Enforcement Division took the couple into custody at their home in Cabazon. This occurred just over a week after the infant went missing from a Big 5 Sporting Goods parking lot in Yucaipa.

Authorities launched the operation after finding “inconsistencies” in Rebecca Haro’s first report of her alleged abduction. She stated she was attacked and passed out while changing her son’s diaper on August 14. Upon regaining consciousness, she reported that Emmanuel was gone. Deputies have changed the case from a kidnapping to a critical missing-child investigation. They executed several search warrants at the Haros’ home. K-9 units and specialized forensics teams were also involved.

Before today’s arrests, investigators took the couple’s vehicle for evidence. They also removed a 2-year-old child from the home for protective custody. Jake Haro was convicted in June 2023 for willful child cruelty. This charge came from a 2018 incident in Hemet. He received 180 days in jail and four years of probation. He is due back in court on September 2 for a probation violation hearing.

The search for Emmanuel Haro remains ongoing. The Sheriff’s Department asks anyone with information to call its Specialized Investigations Division at (909) 890-4904.
