Lil Nas X Detained and Hospitalized After Suspected Overdose in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, August 22, 2025 - Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X (Montero Lamar Hill) was arrested early Thursday. He was found wandering Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, wearing only his underwear and cowboy boots. When the police arrived, they thought he might be having a drug overdose. They brought him to a nearby hospital for care and then booked him on misdemeanor charges.

A call came in just before 6 a.m. about a naked person walking in the street, said Officer Charles Miller from the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers found Lil Nas X and said he charged at them. This led to his arrest for misdemeanor battery on a police officer. He was first checked for a possible overdose. No other details about his medical condition are available.

Video from TMZ shows the 26-year-old artist walking down a usually busy boulevard. At one point, he puts a traffic cone on his head and sings for the camera. Witnesses say he kept inviting the person filming to a party that night. He was observed at the hospital for several hours. Then, he was transferred to LAPD’s Valley Jail in Van Nuys. He is still held there without bail.

Lil Nas X became famous in 2019 with his hit “Old Town Road.” It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a record 19 weeks. He is known for advocating LGBTQ rights and making bold artistic choices. In April, he had a health scare when he was hospitalized. Doctors found he had sudden partial paralysis on the right side of his face, which was later linked to Bell’s palsy.

No statement has yet been issued by the rapper’s representatives. Fans and fellow artists are sharing their worries on social media. They send well wishes and stress the importance of privacy as he recovers.
