Tour Championship Second Round Kicks Off Amid Weather Concerns

ATLANTA (Aug. 22, 2025) - The second round of the FedExCup Tour Championship started Friday morning at East Lake Golf Club. Organizers moved up tee times because of expected bad weather. Play started at 8:00 a.m. ET, almost three hours earlier than Thursday. The final pairing of Russell Henley and Scottie Scheffler will tee off at 10:44 a.m. ET.

Russell Henley shot a course-record 61 in the first round. He kept his lead during the early-morning tee times. At 10:44 a.m., Henley remained at 9-under par, while world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler sat two strokes back at 7-under.

Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay were just one stroke back. Both sat at 6-under, watching the leaders in the late morning groups. Conditions at East Lake stayed soft after overnight rain. This let players use lift-clean-and-place relief on Friday’s first holes.

Storms are expected in the Atlanta area this afternoon. So, tournament officials stress the need for quick play. Round 2 will be live on NBC and the Golf Channel at 3 p.m. ET. You can also watch it on Peacock and ESPN+.
