Athletics Rally Past Mariners 5-4 in Seattle Thriller

SEATTLE - The Oakland Athletics ended Seattle’s five-game win streak with a 5-4 win over the Mariners on Saturday night at T-Mobile Park.

Oakland was down 4–3 as they entered the ninth inning. Closer Mason Perkins then got a groundout to end the game and secure the comeback.

In the top of the ninth, the A’s trailed 4–3. Brent Rooker delivered a vital RBI single off Mariners reliever Johnny Vander Meer. That hit tied the game at four. Jace Bleday hit a single to the opposite field. This brought in the go-ahead run and gave Oakland its first lead of the night.

Starter Jeffrey Springs earned his sixth win this season. He pitched 5⅔ innings, giving up three runs on six hits. He also struck out four batters. Seattle’s George Kirby took the loss despite a quality start (6 IP, 4 R, 7 H, 5 K).

Seattle took the lead with Julio Rodríguez’s solo homer in the third. In the seventh, J.P. Crawford and Eugenio Suárez each added a solo shot, bringing in two more runs. Oakland fought back with solo homers from Brent Rooker in the first and Tyler Soderstrom in the sixth. This helped them stay close before the late rally.

The A’s improved to 60–70 on the season, while Seattle fell to 68–61. The teams conclude their three-game set Sunday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. PT.
