Broncos Preseason Finale: Denver Tops New Orleans 10–6

NEW ORLEANS, LA - In Saturday’s preseason Week 3 game at Caesars Superdome, the Denver Broncos focused on defense. They won 10–6 against the New Orleans Saints. This was the last chance for both teams to prepare before roster cuts.
Denver’s defense made a strong start, holding New Orleans to just two field goals by Blake Grupe. The first was a 56-yarder on their opening drive. The second, from 49 yards, came late in the first quarter. This put New Orleans ahead 6–3. Facing his old team, head coach Sean Payton saw his Saints offense have a tough time. Spencer Rattler completed only 1 out of 3 passes for 12 yards.
In the second quarter, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix led a six-play, 77-yard drive. He finished with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton. This gave Denver a 10–6 lead at halftime. Nix finished 0-for-2 passing, but his lone scoring strike proved decisive.
Neither side scored after the break. Both teams used their reserves and worked on special teams and depth chart battles. Denver had one scoring drive, thanks to undrafted running back R.J. Harvey. He made a crucial three-yard rush on first down that kept the drive alive. New Orleans struggled with several holding penalties that slowed their momentum. After halftime, they were unable to get past midfield.
The Broncos are now 3-0 in preseason play. Meanwhile, the Saints finish at 0-2-1. Each team now turns to final roster decisions before the regular-season opener in early September.
