Browns Field Starters in Preseason Finale Against Rams

BEREA, Ohio (August 23, 2025) - The Cleveland Browns will use most of their first-team offense in today’s preseason finale. They will host the Los Angeles Rams at 1 p.m. ET at Huntington Bank Field. Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco will get most of the snaps. Rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will follow in that order.
Flacco, who signed a one-year deal this offseason, will play two series. He was named the Week 1 starter earlier in training camp. Gabriel, Cleveland’s second-round pick, missed the first game. He did shine in joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles. Sanders, a fourth-round pick for the team, should see some action. He’s back in practice this week after an oblique strain.
““Do I feel like I have things to prove? Absolutely,” Sanders said. ““I’m playing for joy, for the fans, for my family, and for the team that chose me. When it’s my turn, I’ll be ready to step on the field.”
Myles Garrett, an All-Pro defensive end, and Joel Bitonio, a Pro Bowl guard, probably won’t play. Still, Stefanski highlighted that each starter will be assessed on their own. The Browns want to give veterans important preseason play. They also need to protect key players before the regular season starts.
With roster cuts looming Tuesday, Cleveland’s quarterback hierarchy remains in flux behind Flacco. Kenny Pickett has a lingering hamstring issue but is set to dress. He hasn’t practiced fully yet, so his availability will be decided before the game.
Tonight’s exhibition finale against Los Angeles wraps up Cleveland’s preseason. It’s the last chance for bubble players to audition for spots on the 53-man roster. Tickets remain available, and live coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. ET on SportsTime Ohio.
