Kansas State Star Dylan Edwards Exits Game with Ankle Injury in Dublin

DUBLIN, Aug. 23, 2025 - Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards left Saturday’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic against Iowa State. He injured his left ankle on a muffed punt in the first quarter.

Edwards, a junior transfer from Colorado, fumbled a first-quarter punt. The Cyclones jumped on it at the K-State 8-yard line. He stayed on the field with his left ankle taped. Trainers helped him before he was taken to the locker room for more evaluation.

This setback is another challenge in Edwards’s college career. It comes after a leg injury late in the 2024 season. That injury kept him out of the last game and the first game of the next week. He faced challenges but became one of the Big 12’s top backs. In 2024, he rushed for 546 yards and five touchdowns on only 74 carries. He also added 133 receiving yards and two scores.

Kansas State coach Chris Klieman highlighted Edwards’s key role in the Wildcats’ offense. He said that Edwards’s health “will play a major role in our success this season.” Backup Joe Jackson handled punt returns and took early snaps at tailback while Edwards was out.

Wildcats fans are eager for a medical update soon. Kansas State wants to keep its offensive momentum as it aims for a Big 12 title.
