Mingus Reedus Arrested in Manhattan on Assault Charges

NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2025 - Mingus Lucien Reedus, 25, was arrested Saturday morning in Chelsea. He faces charges of assault and criminal obstruction of breathing. The New York Police Department confirmed this. Mingus is the son of actor Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen.

The NYPD stated that officers answered a 911 call around 8:40 a.m. near West 16th Street and 8th Avenue. Reedus reported a woman was threatening suicide and had taken pills. Upon arrival, officers found a 33-year-old female with minor injuries to her neck and leg. Emergency Medical Services transported her to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Reedus was detained at the scene. He has been charged with third-degree assault and obstructing breathing. Photos from law enforcement show him handcuffed. He wore a black T-shirt and green shorts. This was as he left the 10th Precinct just before 9:30 a.m.

During his arrest, Reedus said to reporters, “It was a misunderstanding.” This was his answer when they asked why he called the police. A woman who said she is his girlfriend called the incident “a big misunderstanding,” The Times of India reported.

This marks the second legal incident involving Reedus. In September 2021, he got arrested at New York City’s San Gennaro Festival. This was after an altercation with a 24-year-old woman. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct later on. By March 2022, he received a conditional discharge. Representatives for Reedus and his parents have not responded to requests for comment.
