Monterrey Dominates Necaxa with Convincing 3–0 Victory

Monterrey, Mexico (August 24, 2025) - CF Monterrey triumphed with a 3–0 win against Club Necaxa in the Liga MX Apertura at Estadio BBVA early Sunday.

Monterrey scored first in the 15th minute. Lucas Ocampos moved in from the right and curled a low shot past the Necaxa goalkeeper. Six minutes later, midfielder Sergio Canales made it 2-0. He quickly finished inside the box, striking a rebound after a save.

The home team sealed the win in the 59th minute. Sergio Ramos calmly scored a penalty after José Francisco “Fran” Rossano handled the ball in the box.

Monterrey set the pace of the game. They outshot Necaxa 9 to 11 overall. Monterrey had three shots on target, while Necaxa had five. Monterrey also held 56% possession during the match. Monterrey’s win keeps them at the top of the Apertura table. Necaxa, however, is still near the relegation zone.

Monterrey aims to build on their strong win when they host Cruz Azul next weekend. Meanwhile, Necaxa has a crucial home game against FC Juárez as they try to end a tough stretch.
