Napoli’s McTominay and De Bruyne Shine as Serie A Kicks Off
REGGIO EMILIA, Italy - On Saturday, August 23, 2025, Napoli started their title defense with a solid 2-0 win over newly promoted Sassuolo at MAPEI Stadium. Scott McTominay scored first in the 17th minute with a strong header. Then, debutant Kevin De Bruyne curled in a free-kick early in the second half to secure the win. Sassuolo had to play with ten men after Ismaël Koné was sent off. They couldn’t respond, so Napoli sits at the top of the standings on goal difference.
