Search Continues for Baby Emmanuel Haro After Sunday’s Field Operation

CABAZON/RENO VALLEY, Calif. - The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on Monday that a search conducted Sunday along the westbound shoulder of the 60 Freeway near Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley did not yield the remains of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro. The operation, which involved cadaver dogs and was carried out in the rugged brush off the freeway, included the presence of the baby’s father, Jake Haro, who is in custody on suspicion of murder.

According to a department post on social media, deputies and forensic teams “conducted a search for Emmanuel Haro with the assistance of cadaver dogs. Jake Haro was at the location with detectives. The search has concluded, and Emmanuel was not located. The investigation to find Emmanuel continues”.

Jake and his wife, Rebecca Haro, were arrested on August 22 at their Cabazon residence after investigators concluded the infant’s alleged abduction report was fabricated and uncovered inconsistencies in the parents’ accounts. While the couple remains jailed, the sheriff’s department emphasized that they are treating Emmanuel’s disappearance as a homicide investigation and continue to follow leads.

Community vigils and online speculation have surged since the baby’s reported disappearance on August 14 at a Big 5 store parking lot in Yucaipa. Rumors circulated on social media that Jake Haro had led authorities to his son’s body, but officials have categorically denied any discovery of remains.

Sheriff Shannon Dicus has stated, “The circumstances around this investigation are tragic, and we will exhaust every resource to find Emmanuel”. Detectives urge anyone with information-no matter how minor-to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
