Brewers Host Celebration of Life for Bob Uecker at American Family Field

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 24, 2025 - The Milwaukee Brewers and the Uecker family met today at American Family Field. They celebrated Bob Uecker, the Hall of Fame broadcaster and beloved “Mr. Baseball.” Uecker died on January 16 at the age of 90.
A pregame show started at 12:25 p.m. on WTMJ’s Brewers Radio Network. It kicked off the fun before Sunday’s game against the San Francisco Giants. Gates opened at 10:30 a.m. Fans should be in their seats by 12:15 p.m. for a live show with Bob Costas, a longtime friend and broadcasting icon.
The pregame ceremony had special guests from Uecker’s life. There were also surprise tributes. Ilene Graff sang a stirring rendition of the National Anthem. She co-starred with Uecker on the 1980s sitcom Mr. Belvedere./em>. In the ballpark, four special displays showed off unique Uecker memorabilia. There was also limited-edition merchandise and a commemorative uniform patch for sale. Proceeds helped charities he supported during his career.
In a heartfelt letter read on the field, the Uecker family thanked fans and the Brewers organization. They wrote, “He loved this team, this city, and this state more than words can say.” Milwaukee was his home, and the Brewers felt like family. Thank you for coming today to say ‘so long’ to our Bob. We’ll laugh and perhaps shed a tear as we honor him. We’ll gather at the place he cherished, with the people he loved most.
The Brewers and Giants kicked off their game at 1:40 p.m. Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle that day supported charities dear to Uecker. The celebration continues the team’s commitment to honoring Uecker’s enduring impact on Milwaukee baseball and the wider sports community.
