LA Galaxy Dominate Colorado Rapids 3-0 in Carson

CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy ended a four-game winless run by shutting out the Colorado Rapids 3-0 on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. Harbor Miller, Elijah Wynder, and Gabriel Pec all scored for the Galaxy (4–16–7, 19 points). They dominated the game against the Rapids (10–12–6, 36 points), who were having their best season yet.

In the seventh minute, 18-year-old defender Harbor Miller scored his first MLS goal. Miki Yamane set him up with a precise pass to the penalty area. Miller then drilled a low shot into the left corner, leaving Zack Steffen helpless. The Galaxy doubled their lead in the 55th minute. Wynder weaved through several Rapids defenders. Then, he got a flicked pass from Yamane and calmly deflected it past Steffen. The score was now 2-0.

Gabriel Pec capped the scoring in the 75th minute. He ran onto a long ball from Marco Reus and sent his shot between Steffen’s legs, sealing the win. Colorado managed just one shot on target. Ted Ku-DiPietro took a shot in the 17th minute, but JT Marcinkowski saved it easily. They couldn’t get past the tough Galaxy defense.

““It’s the kind of evening we needed,” said Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney. ““The players showed belief and clinical finishing in transition.” Colorado coach Robin Fraser was disappointed with his team’s lack of momentum: “We came in confident after winning, but we just couldn’t find our rhythm tonight.”

The result stopped Colorado’s goal for a top-six spot in the Western Conference. It also gave the Galaxy hope as they try to escape the league’s bottom. LA is set to play FC Dallas on Aug. 30. At the same time, Colorado will take on the Vancouver Whitecaps at home.
