Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest Play Out Goalless Draw at Selhurst Park

In a close match at Selhurst Park on Sunday, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest ended in a 0–0 draw. This was the second matchday of the Premier League.
Crystal Palace, energized by their home crowd, had the ball for most of the early game. Yet, they couldn’t turn that into solid chances to score. Jean-Philippe Mateta missed a close header in the 10th minute. Then, Ismaïla Sarr made a great run, creating one of Palace’s few big chances. However, Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels easily saved the shot.
Nottingham Forest defended well. Daniel Muñoz, the full-back, and Maxence Lacroix, the center-back, held off several Palace pushes. The visitors had a weak attack. Still, Chris Wood’s flick-on early in the second half briefly troubled the home defense. Palace’s Dean Henderson and Forest’s Sels both finished the match with clean sheets. Neither team found the net.
The draw leaves both teams on one point after two games. Crystal Palace has yet to win this season. In contrast, Nottingham Forest has grabbed their first point. Forest manager Steve Cooper praised his team’s defense. He said, “We faced a tough away ground and stood strong together." A clean sheet on the road is never easy”. Palace boss Oliver Glasner noted missed chances but welcomed the point. “We made openings but missed the final pass.” We’ll build on the positives and aim for all three at home next time”.
On Thursday, Selhurst Park will host Palace’s UEFA Conference League playoff second leg. At the same time, Forest will head home to get ready for their next Premier League game against Brighton.
