Son Heung-min’s MLS Debut Goal Earns LAFC Only a Draw at FC Dallas

FRISCO, Texas (Aug. 24, 2025) - Son Heung-min made a splash in Major League Soccer with a stunning free-kick goal. However, Los Angeles FC ended up with just a 1–1 draw against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night.
Son Shines Early Just six minutes into his third MLS game, Son scored a stunning goal. He curled a 25-yard free kick over the wall and into the top-left corner. This gave LAFC a 1–0 lead. He joined the team after a record $26 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur. The South Korean superstar scored his first goal for his new club and in the league. This was set up by a foul from Chris Cappis on Denis Bouanga.
Farrington Levels for Dallas A mere seven minutes later, FC Dallas forward Logan Farrington made his mark. After a loose clearance, Patrickson Delgado passed the ball to Farrington. He quickly entered the box and took a shot. The ball deflected off Nkosi Tafari and went past Hugo Lloris. This tied the game for Dallas at 1–1 in the 13th minute.
Key Moments and Performances Dallas rookie goalkeeper Michael Collodi had four saves. Lloris made one stop for LAFC. FC Dallas set a new MLS record by recovering 18 points from losing positions this season. Both sides created additional chances in the second half but were unable to find a winner.
**Injury Concerns** FC Dallas midfielder Igor Jesus left the game in the 25th minute due to a non-contact injury. He was replaced by Mathieu Choinière. The severity of his injury is still unclear.
Looking Ahead LAFC (11–6–8) returns home to host San Diego FC on Aug. 31. FC Dallas (7–11–9) will visit St. Louis CITY SC on Sept. 6.
