Iowa State Tops Kansas State 24–21 in Aer Lingus Classic DUBLIN – Iowa State quarterback Charlie Johnson led two scoring drives in the second half. The Cyclones came back to win 24–21 against No. 17 Kansas State in Saturday’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium. Iowa State fell behind 7–0 late in the first quarter. They were down by seven again at halftime. Then, running back Chris Hansen scored with touchdown runs of 7 and 10 yards. Kansas State’s Jeremiah Smith passed for 273 yards and two touchdowns. However, he was intercepted late in the fourth quarter. This mistake sealed the Cyclones’ win to open the season. Iowa State now stands at 1–0, while Kansas State falls to 0–1.
North Carolina Central Tops Southern 31–14 in MEAC/SWAC Challenge ATLANTA – Chris Mosley led the game with 180 rushing yards, a career high. He also scored on a 49-yard touchdown run. North Carolina Central defeated Southern 31–14 in their season opener.SWAC Challenge Kickoff on Saturday night. Mosley’s quick start helped the Eagles lead 17–14 at halftime. In the third quarter, NCCU scored again with a Walker Harris pass to Kyle Morgan and a run by Aleni Mageo to extend their lead. Harris was 22 of 27 for 189 yards. On the other hand, Southern’s Trey Holly rushed for 119 yards. His 80-yard touchdown briefly put the Jaguars ahead. North Carolina Central’s defense held strong, shutting out Southern in the second half. Now, Central is 1-0, and Southern is 0-1.
