NFL Schedule Sunday, August 24, 2025: Preseason Concludes; No Games on Tap

CANTON, Ohio, Aug. 24, 2025 - The NFL takes a rare break today. The 2025 preseason wraps up with no games on August 24. After three weeks of exhibition games, the preseason contests ended on Saturday. This gave teams one last chance to assess their rosters before mandatory cuts happen later this week.
Teams across the league now have until 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 26, to trim their rosters to the 53-player limit. This interlude offers coaching staffs vital time. They can set depth charts, refine playbooks, and keep players rested and healthy before the regular season kicks off.
With the preseason done, all focus moves to the regular-season opener. On Thursday, September 4, the Super Bowl LIX champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, will take on the Dallas Cowboys in primetime. That marquee NFC East showdown will kick off a full Thursday night schedule hosted on NBC.
In addition to the Eagles-Cowboys opener, Week 1 highlights include:
- Chiefs vs. Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil - Friday, Sept. 5 (8 p.m. ET, YouTube)
- Patriots vs. Raiders - Sunday, Sept. 7 (1 p.m. ET, CBS)
- Ravens vs. Bills - Sunday, Sept. 7 (1 p.m. ET, CBS)
- Packers vs. Buccaneers - Sunday, Sept. 7 (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS)
- 49ers vs. Seahawks - Sunday, Sept. 7 (4:25 p.m. ET, FOX)
- Vikings vs. Bears - Monday, Sept. 8 (8:15 p.m. CT, ABC/ESPN)
As the preseason comes to a close, teams and fans are getting ready for the regular season. It promises intense matchups, historic moments, and global excitement. The countdown to Week 1 is officially underway.
