Rasmus Højgaard Clinches Final European Ryder Cup Spot

FARMINGDALE, New York, August 24, 2025 - Rasmus Højgaard earned the last automatic spot on Team Europe for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. He finished tied for 13th at the Betfred British Masters at The Belfry. The 24-year-old Dane needed to finish in the top 29 to pass Ireland’s Shane Lowry in the European standings. He achieved this with a final score of 1-under-par 71, finishing the week at 8 under.
““I don’t know what to feel - I’ve been so stressed out on the course today,” Højgaard admitted after signing his card Sunday. ““I was telling my caddie, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to be able to do this.’ I managed to make a good four at the end there, so I’m over the moon right now”.
Højgaard joins Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Tyrrell Hatton. They are Europe’s six automatic qualifiers. Captain Luke Donald will complete his roster with six captain’s picks to be announced on September 1. European fans hope the visitors will win on American soil for the first time since 2012. Play starts at Bethpage Black on September 26.
