Storm vs. Mystics: Game Recap (August 24, 2025)

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm kept winning on the road, beating the Washington Mystics 85–82. It was a tough game, held Sunday at CareFirst Arena.
In a close game, Seattle jumped ahead with a 10-point lead, thanks to Nneka Ogwumike’s scoring and rebounding. But in the third quarter, Washington fought back. Sonia Citron hit three three-pointers, cutting the gap to just one point. The Mystics gained their first lead, 68–67, with Kiki Iriafen’s put-back. This happened with less than five minutes left in the game.
Skylar Diggins secured the win with a layup and a clutch three-point play. She ended the game with 22 points and 7 assists for the Storm. Ogwumike had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Rookie Dominique Malonga also scored 14 points off the bench.
For Washington, Citron led all scorers with 24 points, drilling 5-of-9 from deep. Iriafen posted 13 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Brittney Sykes chipped in with 16 points. However, the Mystics were undone by 17 turnovers, which the Storm converted into 21 points.
Seattle improves to 20–18 overall and 12–8 on the road, while Washington falls to 16–22. The Storm come home Wednesday to take on the Golden State Valkyries. On Thursday, the Mystics will end their homestand against the Connecticut Sun.
