Terique Owens Scores First Professional Touchdown in Preseason Finale

San Francisco, CA (August 24, 2025) - Terique Owens, 25, caught his first career touchdown pass on Saturday night. This happened during the preseason finale, where the San Francisco 49ers beat the Los Angeles Chargers 30-23.
With just over three minutes left at Levi’s Stadium, backup quarterback Carter Bradley hit Owens on a 22-yard pass down the right sideline. This put the 49ers up 30-16. The score marked a strong answer to a Chargers rally. It also gave Owens a memorable moment. He signed a reserve/future contract with San Francisco after going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Owens faced tough odds to make the final 53-man roster. Still, he showed the athleticism and playmaking skills that reminded many of his Hall of Fame father. Owens beat cornerback Sam Webb at the snap. He extended his route, caught Bradley’s pass, and turned upfield for the touchdown. The home crowd erupted with chants of “Baby T.O.!”
The Chargers cut the lead to 30-23 with a late touchdown. However, San Francisco got the onside kick and ran out the clock. The win brought the 49ers’ preseason record to 2-1 before roster cuts. Owens’ strong performance helps his chances for the practice squad or the final roster.
Next, the 49ers will set their 53-player roster by the league deadline on Tuesday, August 26. After that, they’ll kick off the regular season at Seattle on September 7.
