Fleetwood Clinches Ryder Cup Spot and Co-Leads Tour Championship Final

By Golf News Service ATLANTA, Aug. 24, 2025 - England’s Tommy Fleetwood made the Europe Ryder Cup team. He enters Sunday’s final round at the Tour Championship tied for first place.

Fleetwood was among the first six to qualify for Luke Donald’s European team. This happened after the DP World Tour points race at the Betfred British Masters. He is set to play in the matches on Sept. 26–28 at Bethpage Black on Long Island.

At East Lake Golf Club, Fleetwood shot a 3-under 67 in Saturday’s third round. This brought him to 16 under par, tying him for the lead with American Patrick Cantlay. Fleetwood bounced back from a double bogey at the par-3 15th. He birdied the 16th and 17th holes, keeping his shot at his first PGA Tour win alive.

““I hope to stand on the 18th green with the trophy,” Fleetwood said. He reflected on a strong season with 44 top-10 finishes, but he still seeks his first win. ““Everyone wants to be in that final pairing on Sunday, and I’m fortunate enough to be one of those guys.”

Fleetwood aims for a big win while chasing his Ryder Cup dreams. He gets ready to join a strong European team full of major champions in New York next month. Sunday’s finale at East Lake will decide the Tour Championship title and the $10 million FedEx Cup bonus. It will also be the last big test before the season’s key team event.
