Red Sox’s Ceddanne Rafaela Honors Jeter, Makes Highlight-Reel Catch at Yankee Stadium

New York, NY - August 25, 2025

Boston Red Sox utility player Ceddanne Rafaela paid tribute to Yankee legend Derek Jeter during Sunday’s contest at Yankee Stadium-and then delivered on the spot. Speaking live on the in-game mic, Rafaela recalled Jeter’s iconic diving stop at the shortstop hole before sprinting into short center to haul in a fly ball with a full-extension catch in the bottom of the inning.

His glovework came in the midst of a 7-2 loss to New York, snapping Boston’s three-game series win streak against the Yankees and ending the Red Sox’s eight-game winning run at the Stadium-an achievement the Bombers had not managed since their 2009 World Series title campaign.
