Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza’s Nasser Hospital Kill at Least 15, Including Journalists

KHAN YUNIS, Gaza Strip, August 25, 2025 - Israeli airstrikes struck the fourth floor of Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza on Monday, killing at least 15 people, including four journalists, Palestinian health officials said.
The first missile hit shortly before 9:00 a.m. local time, followed minutes later by a “double-tap” strike as rescue crews and media gathered at the scene. Among the dead was Reuters contractor cameraman Hussam al-Masri; Reuters photographer Hatem Khaled was wounded in the second strike. Al Jazeera confirmed that correspondent Mohammed Salam and freelance AP journalist Mariam Dagga were also among those killed.
Palestinian civil defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal said a civil defense rescue worker was among the casualties, bringing the confirmed death toll to 15. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that the attack compounded an already dire humanitarian situation, with widespread shortages of medical supplies and personnel across the enclave.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as wounded civilians and journalists rushed for cover and medics attempted to treat survivors in the blast-damaged corridors. Video footage showed the live broadcast feed from inside the hospital abruptly cutting out at the moment of the first explosion.
Israel’s military and the Prime Minister’s Office had no immediate comment on the incident. International press and aid organizations condemned the strikes on medical facilities, warning they may violate international humanitarian law protecting hospitals and non-combatants in conflict zones.
