NAU Semester Kicks Off and Faculty Senate Convenes on August 25, 2025

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona University marked the official start of the fall semester today as classes began across all undergraduate and non-degree programs. First-year students, transfers and returning Lumberjacks filled lecture halls and residence halls for the first day of instruction in the 2025-2026 academic year, following tuition deadlines and financial aid disbursements earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the NAU Faculty Senate held its August meeting at 3:00 p.m. in the University Union’s Oak Creek Room (with a concurrent Zoom session). Senators reviewed updates on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, Title IX policy changes and faculty governance reforms enacted this summer.

Additionally, today marked the opening of the fall semester for NAU’s Exchange Program, welcoming inbound international students nominated by partner universities. The Center for International Education began orientation sessions this morning to help exchange scholars acclimate to campus life and enroll in courses for the 2025 fall term.
