Network Engineering and Firewall teams are working around the clock to restore normal DNS resolution for students, faculty, and staff. Users experiencing connectivity issues have been urged to contact the ITS Customer Support Center at 213-740-5555 for immediate assistance.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Aug. 25, 2025) - University of South Carolina All-Clear After False Shooter Reports The University of South Carolina lifted its shelter-in-place directive Sunday evening after investigating an unconfirmed report of an active shooter near the Thomas Cooper Library. No evidence of gunfire or a suspect was found, and two minor injuries were reported during the building evacuation. University spokesperson Jeff Stensland confirmed there were no shots fired and assured students that campus safety protocols functioned as intended.
IRVINE/LOS ANGELES (Aug. 25, 2025) - UC Irvine-USC Awarded $8 Million for PFAS Research An $8 million, five-year grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences has established the Southern California Superfund Research and Training (ShARP) Center. Spearheaded jointly by UC Irvine’s Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health and USC’s engineering and clinical research teams, the partnership will assess, remediate, and prevent per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in the environment, addressing links between these “forever chemicals” and cancer risks.
LOS ANGELES (Aug. 25, 2025) - No. 5 USC Women’s Soccer Extends Perfect Start The No. 5 USC women’s soccer team recorded its third straight victory Sunday, blanking New Mexico State 4-0 at McAlister Field. USC outshot the Aggies 35-2, with four different goal scorers: Faith George, Jaiden Anderson, Hana Mizumoto, and Ines Derrien. Derrien also contributed two assists, helping the Trojans maintain 70% possession en route to their second 4-0 shutout of the young season. USC will host Portland next Thursday at 7 p.m. on B1G+ television.
