KSrelief Distributes Shelter Aid in Yemen’s Hadhramaut

Hadhramaut, Yemen (SPA) - August 25, 2025 - The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) today completed the distribution of emergency shelter assistance to displaced families in Hadhramaut governorate, as part of its ongoing efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

KSrelief teams delivered 1,500 tents and 3,000 shelter bags-each containing kitchen utensils, mattresses, and blankets-to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Al-Mithaq and Mushta camps, located in the Abs district. The operation aimed to improve living conditions for over 7,500 individuals forced from their homes by conflict and seasonal flooding.

“The urgent provision of safe, weather-resistant shelter is critical as families endure prolonged displacement,” said Abdulaziz Al-Malki, KSrelief’s Yemen programme manager. “These supplies will help vulnerable households withstand the upcoming winter rains and reduce the risk of illness and exposure.”

KSrelief’s intervention follows recent flash floods in western Yemen, which destroyed makeshift shelters and exacerbated already dire conditions for more than 20,000 IDPs across Hadhramaut. In addition to emergency shelter, KSrelief has provided food parcels, water-storage tanks, and hygiene kits to support the rainy-season response.

This round of distributions represents the third phase of KSrelief’s 2025 shelter assistance plan in Hadhramaut, which aims to reach a total of 50,000 displaced people by year-end. Future deployments will focus on reinforcing protection measures and expanding transitional housing solutions in long-term displacement sites.
