BritBox Launches “Crime Spree” Slate with New Exclusive and Classic Dramas

August 26, 2025 NEW YORK-Today, BritBox rolled out its highly anticipated “Crime Spree” programming block, headlined by the premiere of the exclusive miniseries Playing Nice and the simultaneous release of several fan-favorite series seasons.

Playing Nice Season 1 dropped two episodes at launch, with the remaining installments to follow weekly. The thriller, starring Niamh Algar, James McArdle and Jessica Brown Findlay, explores the unsettling aftermath of two toddlers switched at birth in a picturesque Cornish community.

In addition, BritBox made available all five seasons of the BAFTA-winning comedy-drama Last Tango in Halifax. Viewers can now binge six episodes each from Seasons 1-3, two episodes from Season 4 and four episodes from Season 5-each season released in full today.

Rounding out today’s offerings, the first season of the gritty crime drama Happy Valley, starring Sarah Lancashire, also became available on the service in its entirety. This addition, alongside Playing Nice and Last Tango in Halifax, marks the official kickoff of BritBox’s multi-week celebration of British crime storytelling.
