Xbox Confirms Gears of War: Reloaded Release for August 26, 2025

REDMOND, Wash., August 26, 2025 - In an announcement today, Xbox Game Studios and developer The Coalition officially confirmed that Gears of War: Reloaded, a full remaster of the 2006 original, will launch on August 26, 2025, for $39.99 across Xbox Series X|S, Windows (Microsoft Store and Steam) and PlayStation 5, marking the franchise’s first appearance on non-Xbox consoles.

The remaster, co-developed by The Coalition alongside Sumo Digital and Disbelief, delivers 4K resolution at 60 FPS in the campaign and up to 120 FPS in multiplayer, with HDR, Variable Refresh Rate support and spatial audio. It also bundles all post-launch DLC from Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, including bonus campaign chapters, multiplayer maps and cosmetics. Players who digitally own Ultimate Edition on Xbox One, Xbox Series or Windows will receive a free upgrade to Reloaded.

Gears of War: Reloaded arrives day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with full cross-play and cross-progression across platforms, enabling players to carry campaign and multiplayer progress between Xbox, Windows and PlayStation systems. In remarks on Xbox Wire, studio head Mike Crump noted that the launch precedes the series’ 20th anniversary, offering both longtime fans and newcomers an opportunity to experience the iconic third-person shooter ahead of next year’s milestone.
