Nelly Furtado Strikes Back at Body-Shamers with Bold Manchester Pride Statement

Manchester, England - August 26, 2025 By Entertainment Desk
Pop star Nelly Furtado turned heads at Manchester Pride this past Sunday by using her stage wardrobe to deliver a powerful retort to critics of her appearance. Performing at the festival on August 24, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter appeared in an oversized white T-shirt emblazoned with a life-size drawing of a woman’s figure, cheekily confronting body-shaming commentary without uttering a word.
The T-shirt’s design traced a woman’s body from neck to mid-thigh, complete with a cropped tank top, push-up bra, mini denim skirt, and a bedazzled “Whoa Nelly” gold belt. Furtado paired the statement piece with sparkly fishnet stockings, hot pink fingerless gloves, and knee-high colorful boots, commanding the stage both visually and vocally.
Ahead of the Manchester performance, Furtado had already championed body positivity on social media. In January, she posted bikini selfies alongside a heartfelt caption urging followers to embrace self-love and “have a body neutral 2025” while insisting she had never undergone any facial or body surgeries. During that same post, she also dispelled rumors of cosmetic enhancements, attributing her youthful look to hydration, sleep, and strategic use of face and body tape for photoshoots.
Fans and commentators praised Furtado’s no-spoke fashion protest, noting that the singer has long advocated for authentic self-expression. “Express yourself freely, celebrate your individuality, and know it’s perfectly OK to be OK with what you see in the mirror,” she wrote earlier this year, reinforcing her message of empowerment and acceptance.
